Dear Mum – Every dog has his day, and as you can see from the date, this is my day – nearly at an end now. To begin the story at the beginning, we have shifted a few hundred yards along the road into a new camp, so I am in with a new roomful of chaps; six of us in a room this time. To-morrow we celebrate another birthday, as one of the boys is just a day younger than I am. Got a birthday present this morning, too – a couple of letters; one from you – the most recent yet, dated October 11, and the other from an English lad on a course in England. The new camp is much larger than the other, and I find the quarters an improvement, too. Apart from the change over, which happened at the end of last month, there’s not much new to report; the same old round doesn’t give much in the way of news. I am still plugging away at languages and it passes the time very well. Hope to be able to speak passable Danish by the time I visit Denmark after the war. Meantime, here’s hoping it won’t be too long now. Love from Arnold G.
