Dear Mum – Some correspondence to answer this month. Quite a bunch of about a dozen letters written round about November have turned up recently – one from Auntie Alice, Mrs Sadie Knuckey, Auntie Han, Hazel M., a more recent one from Lin, and the rest from you. Please thank all these folk and sister Maude for writing, as much though I was pleased to hear from them, I shan’t be able to reply for a while yet. Lin said he’d been to see you and that you had had a card from me, so that was good news. I haven’t heard from Joan for ages, nor from Thos, and several other people whom I know to be writing, so there must be a big bunch more on the way to me somewhere. My nieces seem to have been having rather a bad time, but evidently they had a merry Christmas which must compensate for a lot of things. I am working fairly solidly at Danish so I shall be able to talk to the folks when I see them after the war – it’s a good way of passing the time, and there’s certainly not much else to do. Love to yourself and all the folks from Arnold G.
