Dear Mum – Several more of your letters to hand recently – one of them had an interesting journey, as it apparently went to Italy by mistake, but eventually arrived safely, a little older than would otherwise have been the case. I hope mine are arriving as well at your end of the line, even though I fear they won’t be as numerous. Have also heard from Peggy; please thank her very much indeed for writing – I was very pleased to hear from her, and hers is the “newest” letter I’ve had from N.Z. yet. Have also heard from good old Vic; could you please thank him on my behalf? and also remember me to Lin, if he’s still in the neighbourhood. Another splendid book parcel from Mrs Bassett arrived yesterday; she really is looking after me wonderfully. In addition, I’m hearing regularly from Peggy Murray and Mrs Steeves, as well as one of our Canadian skating-pals. Joan’s letters are coming in well, too, so everything in the garden’s lovely. And here’s an end to all this idle chat, with love to yourself, Hazel M. & Co, from Arnold G.
