Dear Mum – I have been a prisoner for 3 weeks now, but this has been my first chance to write. However, I feel sure that either by this time, or else very shortly, you will have been notified that I am safe. You must not worry, as I am absolutely undamaged, and am being well treated. Bags of food, so don’t fret about that either. I came ashore in France after splashing around the old ditch for a couple of days; had a few days in a clink near Paris, and came on to here, which is a sort of receiving and forwarding place, so won’t be here much longer. Red Cross can tell you how to write to me, I think; can’t write very often from Germany as we are allowed only 3 of these letters and 4 postcards a month, but I don’t think there is any limit placed on incoming mail. I am rooming here with a N.Z. Squadron-Leader, and having a good time, though I’d much prefer to be elsewhere. Will write to Thos and ask him to get me razor and one or two such odds and ends, as stuff comes comparatively quickly from England. Fancy following poor old Dad’s footsteps as closely as all this! Once again – don’t worry, Mum, and here’s love from Arnold G.
